Miguel y Marina - La Verbena

If there’s one thing I truly love, it’s creating gifts that leave a mark in people. I believe gifting is an art: you draw from your own experiences, build connections, and translate those feelings into ideas that resonate, designs that allow others to feel a piece of your story.

One of the greatest joys of my work is creating souvenirs for the people you host, items they can look at later and think, “Oh, this is what I got at Marina and Miguel’s wedding,” and keep with pride.

Designing everything for our own wedding alongside Miguel was an incredible experience. We shaped a concept and crafted a day that felt perfect for us and meaningful for all our guests.

As two Spaniards, we wanted to capture the spirit of one of the most iconic Spanish celebrations: La Verbena. These festivals usually take place in a small town plaza, the setting of so many of our own joyful summer memories.

The table bag was inspired by the classic candy bags that hold Madrid’s traditional “Violetas” sweets. When we started dating, Miguel and I bought a bag of them undeniably for it’s packaging at La Pajarita, and it’s still sitting on the shelf in our living room.

The scarf, one of the key elements to design into was designed as something people would keep forever. The number of photos I’ve received of friends wearing theirs after the wedding perfectly captures the feeling of what a souvenir should be.
It also reflects one of the accessories you’d wear at a verbena in the north of Spain, where we’ve coincidentally spent endless summer’s growing up.

The colour palette carried through all the stationery pink, yellow, orange, and cream - From our Save the Date to the seating plan; shades that remind us of autumn but also of the Starburst candies included in the package, and one of Miguel’s favourites.

Finally, the “estampita,” which we use in Spain as a kind of postcard to pin on the fridge, added a playful touch. We also wanted to incorporate that element of fun in the package; guests could scratch a fun fact card with a guitar pick to reveal a fun fact about us, there were 20 different ones in total, giving it a collectible, almost Pokémon-card feel.
